As part of the Demons 60th anniversary year celebrations, a dinner was held at the South Oakleigh Club on Friday the 26th of October, 2007. Along with the many past and present players, administrators and friends, the Club decided to name a Diamond Jubilee Team, to honor those players who have contributed to the success & longevity of the Demons Ice Hockey Club Inc. as a player & administrator.

We asked those present to cast their votes from a selected group of nominees who meet a specific selection criteria. On completion of the votes being tallied, the following is a reflection of some great players who have graced our different teams during our early years through to the present day.

The Diamond Jubilee Team as selected is

First Line:

Club Legends
During the evening the Club also honored two greats by awarding them the highest Honor of Club Legend

These two member are: Russell Jones & Michael Smits Snr.

Noel McLoughlin   Played 1953 -1964, for 150 games,
Goalkeeper for the Australian Olympic Ice Hockey Team, 1960 Squaw Valley USA & World Championships Goalkeeper Japan 1963.
First player to be awarded 2 x VIHA Snr-A Presidents Medals 1959 & 1961.
Awarded Demons I.H.C. Inc Life Membership 1964
Paul Watson

  Played 1969 -1973, 1977 -1978, for 127 games
Awarded the Alan Currie Trophy 1969
Awarded the Alan Coleman Trophy 1996 &1999
Coached various Junior Demons teams over the last 10 - 15 years.
Jon Moses   Played as a Junior 1981 - 1989, for 232 Junior games
Played Senior 1990 - 2006, for 222 Senior game, Awarded the Alan Currie Trophy 1986, 6 times Demons Snr - A MVP.
Snr - A Captain 1992 - 2002
Awarded Life Membership 1997
Russell Jones   Played 1946 - 1949, 1954 - 1964, for 143 games
Player for the Australian Olympic Ice Hockey Team, 1960 Squaw Valley USA & World Championships Team, Japan 1963.
First Snr - A Coach, 1946-1949, 1954-1957, 1959-1964 for a total of 14 years.
Awarded Life Membership 1964.
Selected as one of our first Club Legends 2007.
Michael Smits Snr

Oustanding Clubman over 19 years, hence the Trophy named in his Honor which was first awarded [1975] upon his untimely death in 1974.
