We may be heading into summer, but that doesn’t mean the hockey, nor the hockey-related news has stopped. In fact, I have so many items to include in this edition of the Demons Newsletter that I am struggling to remember them all; so here we go...

Three new LIFE Members! Congratulations go out to Rod Johns, Paul (Jaffa) Watson and Carl Fevola.

Demons Diamond Jubilee Team & Club Legends For those of you who were at our 60th Anniversary Dinner, you would be aware that we selected our Diamond Jubilee team and two club legends.

A Call for Demon-Related Memorabilia In the build-up to our 60th Anniversary Dinner, one short-coming that was highlighted is a lack of photographs and records concerning the past achievements of the Demons.

A New Demons Executive For 2008 On more mundane issues, a new Demons executive was elected at our AGM.

Three new LIFE Members!

Congratulations go out to Rod Johns, Paul (Jaffa) Watson and Carl Fevola who were all unanimously elected Life Members at our AGM on 1 November. It is absolutely mind boggling if you try to add up the number of seasons these three guys play-for, coached and managed Demons teams! Rod was the driving force behind the Demons throughout the club’s most successful decade, coaching our Senior A side to six Grand Final victories. Not to be outdone, Jaffa and Carl both started with an earlier era of the Demons as members of the club’s first Senior A championship team (1970). Paul went on to excel as both a player and a coach. As for Carl, he just went on, and on and on, and is still going! It is the efforts of people like these three, which have kept the Demons going for over 60 years.

DEMONS DIAMOND JUBILEE TEAM & CLUB LEGENDS

For those of you who were at our 60th Anniversary Dinner, you would be aware that we selected our Diamond Jubilee team and two club legends. The team was voted on by all attendees at the dinner and reflects both playing ability and the longevity of the individual’s commitment to the club. Not surprisingly, all three of our newest Life Members featured in the team. The full roster of the Demons Diamond Jubilee team is as follows:

A CALL FOR DEMON-RELATED PHOTOS, GAME SHEETS & RECORDS

In the build-up to our 60th Anniversary Dinner, one short-coming that was highlighted is a lack of photographs and records concerning the past achievements of the Demons. So it you have any old photographs, game sheets or records, please contact Paul Rice or myself. We would love to be able to scan and save copies of them so that when we get to our 70th Anniversary, we are able present a more complete picture of the rich history of the Demons.
