Quick update!

15/11/11

Hi all, just a couple of things to bring everyone up to speed!

I went over to see Russell Dow last Thursday and he's looking really well now; he has had a number skin graff's on his shoulders and under his chin but they look quite good (Sorta), it won't be to long (If he has his way) before we see him back out on the ice!

Summer; is under way and I remind all Demons & Devils to play within the rules and the sprit of the summer comp its about "Fun" the rules are a little different with the main one being, two misconducts in one game see's you out of that game and the next.
So play the puck and keep it shut! Simple really?

Winter 2012;
By now all players should be aware of the changes for next Winter; for those that aren't. There will be no Rec C next season however there will be 6 new Prem C teams; this is mainly down to the Icehouse taking ice time from the IHV. Should anyone need more info regarding this then please contact me and I'll do my best to bring you up to speed.

The Russell report

25/10/11

Hi all and happier day's,

I've just got back from a quick visit with Russell, when I got to his ward Russell wasn't to be seen! Just Ann (Russ's mum) sitting on her own doing a jig saw puzzle! I said Hi, and Ann being very quick said all's going fine Russell just has gone down stairs to jump on-line! How good is that!
Within a couple of minutes he was back and I have to say looking really good! Bad but good if you know what I mean?
In fact the news just gets better; there is a very strong chance the Russell's face, arms and hands will not need any skin grafs! (I forgot to ask about his ears) Its mainly his chest that seems to be the main concern now. He is in great sprits and if all keeps going well he might even be allowed to go home much sooner than first thought. He'd still be under the care of the hospital I would think?

Russell said to say thank you to all and was really quite pleased that our game resulted in a Demon's win! I did point out that I thought we were the better looking ones in the picture! (ha Ha)

Russ Dow's Progress

23/10/11

Hi all,

I was able to visit Russell last Friday, he was in good spirits but is still a long way from being out of the woods. He was very tired but was pleased and thankful that we are thinking about him and about the fundraiser. He was unaware that the game was the fundraiser but thought that the Demons Prem C team would be too strong for the girls. I told him that if we were beaten, he wouldn't see me for the rest of the year (haha). All in all, I think he is doing really well.

Just a reminder to all those that are unaware, the game was played on Friday and I would like to thank the following, for without their assistance, it simply wouldn't have happened:
Andy, Lee, and the girls from the Melbourne Ice - Their enthusiasm was unbelievable!
The Medibank Icehouse
IHV
and of course all of you - the Demons and whole ice hockey community - with a special thanks to the the Pirates - who contributed a large some of monies.

We were able to raise over $1,100 and I am now talking to the Dow family about what best to do with the monies. Once it has been decided, I will let all know. I would also like to give a special mention to Doug Ball over in Canada who has already started arranging some items for Russell, and called me today to see where we are at.

The game was a huge success and played in the right spirit, and luckily for the old boys, the score line was even great too! I must say, the score (6-0) probably didn't indicate how tough the game was, with the Ice having many opportunities to score.

I will keep you all updated as best I can.
Many thanks,

Rick

ps: Great job on the photo Nic!

Update on Russelll Dow

21/10/11

Hi all, things are in place for tonights game between the Demons Prem C team & the Melb Ice girls!
The Icehouse has got behind us and we have the go ahead to use the event as a fund raiser for Russell! In fact they have kindly donated a couple of family passes for us to raffle off!

Russell is now out of ICU burns unit and has had all of the tubes removed, he has also had many of his banages removed and I'm told he looks a lot less like a "Mummy" now! Which is great news! He still has away to go but he is a fighter and I'm sure he'll progress as quickly as anyone can!

Get down with a gold coin or two and watch what should be a great game tonight!
Many thanks to the Icehouse, Melbourne ICE Icehockey team, the IHV and the volunteers for there support; without it this event simply couldn't happen.

Bad News Russell Dow Injured!

18/10/11

Hello all this is my first notice as the President of our club and it's a notice that I'd rather not have to share with you all!

In the weekend just gone Russell attended a 21st birthday party; whilst at the party he along with a number of people were standing around a fire when another party goer threw a container of Metho into the fire. This caused the fire to "Flash up" with four people being caught in what I guess was some sort of fire ball!

Russell has 1st & 2nd degree burns to his Face, Neck, Arms and upper chest. He is now in the Alfred hospital ICU unit, his stay maybe up to 6 weeks if all gos well! Russell is essentially in a body cast from his chest up and needs to be intravenously fed.

What was to be a joke has caused major injuries, as a club we'll do all we can and I know that all Demons are feeling for Ann, Doug and Kevin. I will be arranging a Hamper for Russ if anyone can assist me I'm looking for anything to do with the Chicago Blackhawks (Russ is a keen follower of them)He'll need something to do, reading and watching Hockey games will help pass the time.

I will advise if and when Russell is up for a few vistors lets all do what we can!

Rick.

Happy Days, The Rec C Devils are the Champions for the (Div two section) of 2011! They played their 2nd game last night and destroyed the Jets winning 6-2 in what was a super team performance!

Week 16

10/09/11

Hi all,
Getting in Early this week with overwhelmingly good news. Out of the 5 divisions played this winter, the Demons have 4 into grand final playoffs. The committee members are thrilled with the effort by all club members and are hoping that this years presentation will be our best yet. Some results since I last wrote: Prem A won 4-3 in their first grand final, Prem Reserve lost 3-0 in their first grand final in a game that was much closer than the score suggests. The Rec C Devils of course are 1 up in their finals series, and tonight the Prec C won through to the grand final by destroying the Jets 6-1. So the next games are: Prem A - 15th at 8pm, Prem Reserve - 15th at 9.30pm, Prem C - 11th at 5pm and Rec C - 12th at 9pm. Get on down and support the big red D!

Great News or Prem A team beat the B/Hawks 4-3 last night and are playing their game 1 of the G/F tonight at 8pm! Also the Prem Res won last night sorcing in O/T (and on a power play)! They too play tonight at 9.30pm. Get on down to the Icehouse and support the big Red D's

Good luck & go you good things

Week15

Hi all, Well week one of the finals and what a week!

It kick off with the Prem Res going down 0-3 to the Sharks. They will now play the Braves tonight 9.30pm in the PF. Then it was the turn of Prem C who after leading 4-1 also lost 4-5 and they now will play the Jets on Saturday in their PF. So it wasn't the best of starts for the Demons! However the Mighty Rec C Devils played and had a huge 3-1 win in game one of their GF, with their 2nd game next Monday be there!! And last of all our Prem A had a huge win 6-1 over the Tigers and and they also play tonight at 8pm get along to the icehouse and support the teams if you can. I am!!

Good luck and skate hard

Week 14

25/08/11

Hi all, as always at this time of year we look towards the finals!
Prem A have one game to play before their finals and a win would see them 2nd after the home and away season! Great job by all in the team.
A win to the Prem Res would see them close out the year on top (Come on team have a crack this Sunday)

"McGurthy's machine" the Prem C team has finished on top, well done to all on the team (But lets go all the way this year in the finals, or it's runners up for how many in a row???)
Our Rec C demons will need to play out of their skins in the last two rounds if they are to make the play off's, nothing less then having to beat the Top side in their comp then backing it up in a must win last game! Good Luck guy's!

However our 2nd Rec C team the "Dow's Destroyers" the Devils have also finish on Top, what a huge effort with nearly all the forwards on that team finding the nett though-out the year! Not bad at all for a bunch of newbies. All the best of luck to you in the play off's.

Till next week

Lots happening behind the scenes as we gear up for the finals team managers and coaches please ensure you have read the info about the “Final series regulations”

09/08/11

Hi all, by now those of you who read this would have seen our new Caps! they look great and at $10 well worth getting one! (Or two)
A poor week for the mighty D's this week with the news of our Rec C Devils goalie getting hurt in the last two minutes of the game. Bryant has been(and will be!) a super team member not only playing in the Rec C team but he has also backed up and played with both the Prem Res & C's. We wish you a speedy recovery.
Our teams were up and down this week (see the managers reports)we'll need to take stock and regroup as the finals are just around the corner! So work hard and play harder!!

Till next week

Hi all, we had a mixed result last weekend!
Only three teams took the Ice. Prem Res went down 0-2 to the Braves; Prem C with half a team managed to pull out draw 3-3 again vs the Braves, The Rec C Demons played (Sorry I haven't been able to find out the score line there!)More work needed out there guy's!

week10

04/07/11

Hi all; The D's had another good week! Our Prem A team went down to a fully loaded Braves outfit, but we are seeing improvements within the team each week. The Prem Res team had a double header against the Blackhawks and won 4-0 on Saturday and just got over the line by a goal on Sunday! (Guys gotta keep outa the box!!) Prem C also had a hard game just getting up by a goal. Demons Rec C guys had a very good win and the Devils lost by a goal all in all good work!
The 2nd draft results were posted last thursday with the Demons welcoming Boden Davies and Bojan Janic to our club. We're looking forward to you guys playing with us!

Until next week

week 9

28/06/11

Hi all, for the first time this year we had wins in all divisions that played. Prem A, Prem Res, Prem C and the Rec C Devils all had great games! The Rec C Demons had a bye. Super job all! The only bad thing to come out of this weeks games was the injury Simon Thompson (Our Prem Res Goalie), he has hurt his hip and looks like missing the rest of the season; we wish you a speedy recovery! The 2nd draft will be held this week so hopefully will get our 1st picks.

Till next week

El-sid out!

week 8

24/06/11

Hi all it's been a busy week!
Not sure if you have heard but we welcomed a new coach last week, Mark (Chuck) Connolly; he has agreed to try out for the role for our Prem A. We (that is the committee and Chuck) think it would be best to have a trail of a few weeks to see if all work in together rather than a hard and fast rule beiing well into the season. So stay turned, we wish Chuck and the boys all the best for tonights game. Mattie off doing his Daddy thing and will be back in a week or two! Lets hope he is getting some sleep! Team mangers are getting their game reports in, so lets all keep up to date on how the club is going!

Till next week "Play hard"

president

week7

13/06/11

Hi all sorry in the delay in getting this to you; as we can see the team managers have been doing a great job keeping us in the loop on how the teams are performing! No games this weekend due to "Old Timers comp" being held at the Icehouse with many of the oldies getting the dust off the skates and having a crack!
Some news on the Prem A team, it looks as though we may be able to announce a new (permanent) coach in the coming weeks. Stay turned!

Train hard tonight

El Sid out!

president

Week 6

Happy days; the Demons had a very good round with the Prem A coming back from behind to draw with the Tigers, our Prem Res didn’t play again and haven’t got a game till June the 9th (A bit of a mess this year with the fixture they haven’t played since May the 7th) Prem C played in a big double header beating both the Sharks & Braves, With our Rec C teams the Demons lossing to the Blackhawks and the Devils having a super win over the Jets!

For all game details see the Managers reports!

Any member that can assist with off ice offical duties ie; scores box please let me know as we the IHV (That’s all of us in hockey) are very short and we need more helpers.

Until next weel Skate hard

Al Sid out!

Week 5

Hi all,
A sad week for the Blackhawks who lost a club member; Neil McDowell passed away last week. Neil was our IHV's presidents (Andy's)father. Our deepest sympathy to the McDowell family. Neil was as it was put to me; the Blackhawks "Ken Gunn" and we who have been at the Demons for some time all know what he meant to our club. (Well done to our Prem A team who showed repect to Neil before the game) Onto the week that was! Prem A went down by one, Prem Res had a bye; Prem C were the big winners of the week! Rec C Demons had a hard fought win with the Devils having a bye as well! Keep an eye out on the managers reports.

As always Skate hard

Week 4

16/05/11

Hi all,
The Big Red D's are on the move! A Win to The Prem A team well done guys. Great news for the team with Steve(Laff's)Laforet taking over the coaching duries and having a first up win 3-2. The Prem Res had a bye with the Prem C boys having another good win. The Demons/Devils Rec C's had a great first up game agaist each other. All games reports have or will be posted by the team managers. All teams should now have their Polo tops and the commitee are hard at work arranging more Tops/caps etc They will be great so keep an eye out on those. Thanks to all those that purchased a IHV hoodie; it helps our club and the IHV, not many left so if you'd like be quick!

As always Skate hard

Week 3

09/05/11

Hi all,
I guess by now most have their new Demon polo shirts well done to James for arranging them. Lets ensure we wear them to the rinks when either watching or playing games.
Another big week with our Rec C Devils winning their first game well done. See Doug's report on below. The Prem A team had another tough game again Doug has provided a great report. The Prem Res team won by way of forfit see Even's report. The Prem C team had a draw with the Braves (Bruce will be providing that report) and our Rec C Demons had the bye (David Brand will be reporting there)so all in all not a bad round for the club.

Thanks to the team managers for coming onboard and keeping us up to date on how the teams are going.

Something I'll try to do each week is keep you all up to date on our players achievements and we have two this week. They are Mr Paul Dudarev played his 100 game last Saturday (His the 71st to do so) and Grant Furlong played his 50th well done to both.

Until next week Skate hard

Al-sid out!

Week 2

03/05/11

Hi all, a huge week of hockey with our Prem A side taking the ice for the first time in two years. Well done to both our boys and the Jets who have jump on board and are doing the big Red D proud. For those that aren't a where we have fielded a combained team but are playing as the Demons. Great job and were unluckly to lose 0-2 to the Blackhawks. The Prem Res team came from behind to draw with the saints 2-2. The Prem C beat the saints 5-4, Rec C Demons had a win with the Rec C Devils lost (Sorry guys I haven't got your scores)
Well done to all players. I'd also like to thank the commitee for once again working very hard as always ensuring we have everything set up for the club (love the new polo tops)and wait till you all see our new jumpers & merchandise! Please check them out once they arrive and support the club.

As always Skate hard.

Al Sid out!

Welcome to season 2011;

18/04/11

Hi all,
Phantom here reporting on week one of the season. There were mixed results for the four teams that played this week with 2 wins and two losses. Congratulations to the Prem C boys who came from behind to upset the Sharks 3-2 and a super win to the Demon Rec C side who had a convincing win of 8-2 also beating the Sharks.
The Prem Reserve side went down in the grand final replay to the Sharks 2-4, whilst the Devils Rec C side were welcomed with a 0-7 loss (hang in there guys, not bad for some of your first ever games).

The worlds that were held in Melbourne last week were a huge success with the Aussies taking the gold and not dropping a game in the round robin tournament. A big well done to the demons that assisted and there were many. Three of the six team hosts being Doug Dow, Paul Rice and Rick Skrzelinski. They were required every day of the tournament, helping their teams greatly.

We are looking forward to the first game of the Prem A demons side, who are back after two years. Good luck guys!

Until next week, skate hard and pass the puck.

Week 15

07/09/10

Hi all well what a week it’s been, Grand final week rd 1. The Rangers weren’t able to over come the Braves and lost 3-6 and have missed out on a place in the finals, good job guy’s to make it that far in what has been a very trying year! Bring on 2011 where the D’s will once again stand alone. Our Prem C side started off the grand finals last Friday and what was a very lack lustier performance they were smashed by the Braves 2-7 let’s hope the team are able to turn it on this Friday! The Res team on the other hand came out to play on Saturday in what was the best game of the year they turned the tables on the Sharks and gave them a lesson in hockey winning 5-0 (it should have been more), Great job guy’s but it ain’t over yet! Following the Res boy’s were our minor champion team the Rec C, again what seem to be a trend with our C teams they played below their albity and when down 0-2 to the Braves. They too will have to turn it on this Friday.
Good luck to all three teams,
Play hard

Week 14

Hi all,
It is with great pleasure I write this week. The “D’s” are on the move with all three teams winning their games over the weekend/Monday night. Saturday night; Rec C were first up in their 1st semi against the Braves having won 3 out of their 4 encounters this year the team were feeling that they had a good chance to book a place straight into the Grand Final. And they did taking out the game 4-2. They will now wait to see who’ll be the victor between the Braves & the Saints. (Saints beat the Sharks in a shoot out 5-4) It was then the turn of our Prem C side in their 1st semi also vs the Braves; like the Rec side they also had the wood beating the Braves twice, drawing one game and losing one. But this time they beat the Braves 5-1 in what was a highy skillful game. ( A big well done to Josh Skrzelinski who bagged his first hat trick). Monday night; Prem Res their 1st semi was against the Sharks and unlike the other two teams they had their work cut out for them having only beaten the Sharks once this year drawning two and losing one. These teams were very close indeed. In what was the and I quote a player from last night; “That was one of the hardest fought games we have played all year and great job in staying strong to the end”. Our team had far too many pentlies for the game but with great desperate and hard working team play they overcame these adverse conditions to hold onto a 4-3. They will now wait to see who’ll be the victor between the Sharks & the winner of the Braves v Blackhawks game which will be played tonight. The Rangers have also done well beating the Blackhawks 3-1, they will now play in the semi final against the Braves.
Till next week this is MF signing off!

Week 13

It is with much pride I write to you all this week! All teams have made the finals which is fantastic; well done to the players friends and family who have assisted the teams through out the year, with out everyone’s help we wouldn’t have achieve these results. Rangers finished 4th it what has been a very tough year; Prem Res have finished in 2nd place with some outstanding personal results which are Brain Vellacott Highest point scorer and Mich Waters best Goal tender and Simon Thomson 2nd I think says it all. Prem C also finished 2nd (Should have been 1st but for the forfeit) with Matt (Me) Fairbanks best Goal tender (I do have a fair defence team in front of me!) and Andrea Polari coming in 5th on the goal scorers list. Rec C finished in 1st place what a season they have had, great job team! Nathan Shafter came in 2nd in the scorers list and Arron Te also came 2nd in the goal tenders list That is a Stella effort from a new team. So again well done to all, however now it’s into the business end of the season! Nothing to loose now, so play hard stay outa the box and lets see if we can’t take it all!
MF

Week 12

Hi all, sorry that I haven’t been able to keep up lately! 2 games left in the regular season and the teams are looking strong! The Rangers had their second win; Prem Res had a draw, Prem C just keeps on going on their winning ways and the Rec C team managed a draw Whilst things are hotting up on the ice it is as well off it! The committee has started the process of getting our own Premier side back on the ice next year and things are looking good. We think we’ll have as many as 18 players to fill the team next year. So watch this space!!!!! The committee is also in the process of arranging this year’s presentation; at this stage we’re looking at Friday the 8th of October, (keep this night free) we are also looking at arranging some Club merchandise Top’s, T’s etc, if there’s something you’d like to see then let me know and the committee will have a look at it!
Till next week play hard!

Week 11

Hi all,
Good news; The Ranger’s have won their first game, they lead from the outset and took the Blackhawks apart with a fighting 4-1 win! Well done to all! The Prem Res team are up and about with yet another powerful display also beating the Blackhawks 5-2 in what was a very high standard game, both teams played great hockey. Our Prem C team fought hard despite having the lowest number of skaters yet, and smashed the Blackhawks 6-1. Heart break for the Rec C team after leading and playing well they lowered their colours to bottom of the table Blackhawks 2-3. It has come to my attention that a small number of players still have outstanding monies due, I am aware of the extra time allowed to these members but we now need to have all monies owned paid please. Seek out your team manager and he/she can expect the monies on behalf of the club.
Play hard kept outa the box!!
MF

Week 10

Hi all sorry about the no show of my weekly update last week! (Time gets away from me). Well we have only 5 or so games left before the finals are upon us; our teams are all on the improve, some even leading the way. The Rangers are having a season that may best be forgotten, I’d asked the boys to have a crack and try to get something out of the season; next year we’ll be back with our own Prem A team. The Prem Res team are flying with a huge 6-1 win over the Braves in which was no doubt the boy’s best game of the year; they remain 2nd on the table. Our Prem C team are on the move taking over top spot they had a very good win also against the Braves 4-3 The Rec team also 2nd had a hard fought win 5-3. Needless to say all teams need to continue to play hard keep outa the box and let’s take it to them.
MF

Week 9

Hi all sorry that this weeks update is late, I’ve had a technical cliché All is going well, and our teams getting on with the job! The Ranger’s are working hard but still remain winless (Never easy playing in a combined team hang in there guys). The Res Prem side are playing great hockey other then spending to much time in the plenty box they fought back from last weeks loss and beat the Jets 3-1 (Could have been 4-1 if Evan hadn’t missed the vacant net with a minute to go! Nice one Captain) So at the half way mark they’re looking good and sitting in 2nd place 5 points behind the Sharks and 11% better than the Braves. Our Prem C team are also in 2nd place 4 points off the Braves and 5 points in front of the Blackhawks. Rec C team also having a good win last week 8-2 also against the Jets and they too are in 2nd place 1 point off the Sharks and 1 point in front of the Braves. Good luck too all with this round kicking off tonight with yours truly in the net for the Prem C team.

Week 8

Hello all I hope everyone had a nice long weekend break!
The D’s were back on the ice over the weekend and we had a mixed result, the Ranger’s are still looking to have their first win, they did however put up a good game loosing 2-1 to the Blackhawks, the Prem Res team were all over the Sharks but pentalies cost the team dearly and after leading 3-0 the team went down 3-5 (Boy’s what were you thinking?)
The Rec C team lead all the way and won 3-1 good job. Whilst the younger team members had the the Qeens birthday weekend off the old boys were out in force playing in the Masters have a read of Paul Rices sumary below.

Week 6

Hi all, a quite week for the Demons with only two teams playing over the weekend. The Rangers played the Blackhawks and the Prem C team played the top of the ladder Braves who up until the weekend had gone undefeated. A great game that resulted in a 3-3 score line. The Demons pulled the goalie (Me) with 40 seconds on the clock, 14 seconds left and Gordon found a way passed the Braves goaltender to tie the game. Great come from behind save team. (Particularly after the same play cost the team in round one!) Our team standings after week 6 are Rangers 4th (Or bottom if you like) and are yet to win a game; Prem Res are currently 2nd as are Prem C and Rec C teams.
That’s a very good effort keep it up and play hard.

week 7

Hi all,
The mid season draft was held last week and the Demons only drafted one player Dale Sturrock (Brother of Greg)! We welcomed Dale to the Prem Res and he played well in his first game out in the big Red D! The team had a 2-2 draw against the top of the ladder Braves who had to come from behind to match our boy’s. Meanwhile our joint Prem A team the Rangers found the going hard again and are still to bring up a win this year (Hang in there guy’s). Other results were; Prem C team stuck it to Long time rivals the Blackhawks 6-4 and the Rec C team after leading for most of the game lost to the Braves 2-4. For those members looking to purchase a new playing jumper now is the time to get onto Doug! Don’t hold off or it’ll be too late.
Play hard.

Week 5

Hello all,
Another productive week for the Demons last weekend with the Res side, Res C and Rec C all winning. Good Job. We are arranging new Jerseys/jumpers any players interested in purchasing one should contact Doug Dow ASAP. Here’s the guide lines for names etc; The name as you want it on the jersey - It does need to be your proper surname - league rules, but we can allow initials if you want that The number you want (we may have to over-ride that if it conflicts with another player but I will get back to you if there is a conflict) The size (take a look at the attached sizing details and measure it against your favourite jersey - quote the size as per the 'Reebok Edge Authentic Jersey table - but note they are not actually Reebok Edge jerseys) See the attachments!
The IHV held a meeting last night (Wednesday) and have again asked that all clubs are aware of the zero toldarance rules now being apelied in relation to abusing the officials, any player or off ice offical ( Our team’s eg coach, managersetc) must not abuse any IHV officials for any reason ‘Full Stop” Anyone who does will be called before the tributral and more than likely be suspended. Such was the case of a team manager she was given 8 weeks (The rest of the season). So be warned keep your thoughts to yourself! Without officals we have no game!
Play hard and good luck

Week 4

Hello to all and welcome if you’re a first time site visitor.
Round 4 has been full of good Hockey, players have managed to keep out of the penalty box which makes the game so much more enjoyable and easier for all. Our Senior team the Rangers; are still chasing their first win! Sadly they went down 1-4 to the Tigers, the Reserve team won 3-0 over the jets, the Res C team went about the business beating the Jets 10-0 and back to winning list our Rec C won 4-3 again over the Jets. Well done to our members who have put their names down for assisting with off ice assistance and to those that completed the Linesman’s course I think our club has done its bit!
Onto week 5,
MF

Week 3

Hello all;
Week 3 and the season is settling down as far as the committee is concerned. Not so for our teams! The Rangers had another tuff day in the office losing 0-7 to the Blackhawks, our Reserve side hung onto a 0-0 draw. (Great job considering they play for long periods of time with 3 on the ice, guy’s keep outta the box!) The Prem C team took it to the Sharks with a 6-2 and the Rec C had its first lost going down 2-6 to the Sharks. All in all; the D’s are having a crack.
Now for a bit of house keeping; by now you would have received an e-mail re payment of club fees, if you still owe monies please make your payment ASAP! The club must now pay for the ice time and Officials. Without the payments this of course cannot be done.
Roll on week 4 which kicks off tonight 10pm where the Prem C team takes on the Jets.

Week 2

After a slow start to the season round two saw the Demons Teams put together some good wins.
Unfortunately the Rangers had a bad game losing 0-7 to the Braves.
The Reserve team welcomed back to the club some old faces who made their presents felt, helping the team to a 3-0 win over the Blackhawks. The Prem C team came from behind to touch up the Hawks 7-5 and the Rec C team continued on their winning way also beating the Hawks 4-1.
Last Tuesday the VIHA held an “Off Ice officials” course and on Wednesday it started a three week “Linesman” program, a number of Demons attended a big thank you to those people. We do however need more members to get involved so if you can please do so, without these vital off and on ice officials we simply won’t have a league to play in.
I’m looking forward to our teams taking on the Sharks this week good luck to all.
Training is at the Ice-House this Wednesday 7pm sharp; those who are in both the Res C & Rec C teams are welcome to joint in at a cost of $10.00; come along and hone your skills this also is a great way in meeting the Senior team members.
Until next week take care
MF.

Week 1

Week one and the Demons are off. Well done to all who played over the weekend; with all of the changes this year (On and off the ice) it was great to have our teams finally playing at the Ice House.
The results were mixed with the seniors all being beaten, none were to far away with the Rangers going down by 0-2 to the Tigers the Prem B side 1-2 down to the Braves and the Prem C, 2-4 down also to the Braves; However our Rec C had a huge win 5-0 over the Braves.
The lesson to learn from week one is that the Ice House will require a re-think on how we play the game, with the ice being so big we need to keep the heads up, have strong hands and play as a team. I’m sure we’ll turn these results around very quickly.
Any players who haven’t yet paid the required monies or who are thinking of coming back you need to do so ASAP.
The Demons are still looking for more affiliated members so get everyone you know onboard as a volunteer (see the membership form attached).
Round two kicks off on Thursday night with all teams playing at the Ice House. Team Coaches and Managers please remember we must have someone sitting in the penalty box for each and every game and each team must have 12 players on the bench for the drop of the puck. Failing to do so could have your team forfeit the match.
I wish all teams the very best of luck.
