Premiere C Play-offs 12/09/11 Big weekend for the Demons Prem C winning the elimination game 6-1 against the Jets on Saturday night. The win advanced the "C's" into the Grand Final which started on Sunday against the Braves. Demons came out skating hard and managed to keep a slim lead for most of the game when the 1st defensive line of Skrzelinski & Salvagni added two more in the third to bury the Braves 6-3. Game 2 will be played Tuesday Sept 13 at 9:00pm. Be sure to come out and support the C's in their quest for the premiership! Bruce McGurty Demons Prem C - 1 vs 2 03/09/11 After openning up the scoring early in the game and taking control of of the the first and second period with a comfortable 4-1 lead, the Demons let their guard down in the third allowing the Braves to score 4 unanswered goals. Demons now play the winner of 3rd vs 4th place. Fourth places Saints, who have picked up momentum in the seconfd half of the season , have eliminated the Jets. The elimination game vs the Saints will be Saturday September 10 at 6:30pm Docklands. See you there. Cheers, Bruce Bruce McGurty Demons Prem C - Round 14 15/08/11 Demons 1 - Blackhawks 4 Bench attendant on the night and veteran Demon defenseman Paul Dudarev said it all before we stepped out onto the ice to take on the last placed Blackhawks last Thursday night..."come on guys look alive"!. The Demons Prem C registered their first loss of the season going down 4-1. A few of us may have thought it was going to be a turkey shoot. Hope the poisons that were on the night - whether on the ice, on the bench and in the change room afterwards have been exorcised. The last game of the regular season will against a much better side this Thursday 8:00pm Docklands. Bruce McGurty Demons Prem C - Round 13 vs Braves 01/08/11 Demos 3 - Braves 3 No press box summary this week but we can report that with over a third of the C squad out of action last Saturday night, the D's drew against the second place Braves. It's usually a tightly contested event when up against the Braves and good to see we're still undefeated...well done team! Next game vs Blackhawks 11 August - DOCKLANDS. Bruce McGurty Demons Prem C - Round 12 correction 24/07/11 As rightly pointed out by the Hat Trick King, Randy Lamb's 2nd period goal last night was assisted by Rod Johns who administered a Gretzky-esque pass from behind the net. Rod was robbed of the point on the score sheet...thank you Mr Ireland. Bruce McGurty Demons Prem C - Round 12 vs Saints 24/07/11 Demons 6 - Saints 1 Another solid win by the Demons Prem C who are still undefeated with 3 regular season games remaining. After a delayed start Chomp Nim opened the scoring assisted by Randy Lamb. Gordy Stewart then started work on his hat trick with 2 goals goals both assisted by Andy Milum & Dr. Polari, within 20 seconds of each other, late in the first. This late lead-taking jump in the first did knock the wind out of the saints and set the Demon momentum for the rest of the game. "Hat Trick King" Stewart netted his 3rd of the night, again assisted by Milo & the Doc, to extend the lead to 4-1 early in the 2nd. Randy Lamb (unassisted) and Paul Rice (assisted Smith & McGurty) both registered goals in the 2nd period. See you Saturday 30 July when we play our division rivals...the Braves. Bruce McGurty Demons Prem C - Round 11 vs Sharks 08/07/11 The Demons collected another two points in the "W" column last night defeating the Sharks 10-3. The third placed Sharks never posed a threat as they fell behind by four goals in the first period. Point getters on the night were Gordon Stewart scoring a hat trick, Nic Faramaz collected 2 goals, Ken Prokopec with 1 goal & 3 assists, Paul "Ricebubbles" Rice with 1 & 2, Travers Smith and Paul "Sanchez" Raphael both with 1 & 1, Rodrigue Johns, Simone Salvangi and Andrea Polari all assisted on 2 goals each. Chomp Nim, Geoff Bell and Andy Milum all collected an assisted once. Last but not least, proud new dad and the guy who's focusing in on the 2011 best goaltender award for Prem C - Mat Fairbanks, assited on Ken Prokopec's 2nd period goal....onya Matty! The D's current 8-0-2 record combined with the Braves dropping a couple of games places the Demons 5 points clear of second place. See you in a couple of weeks when we meet the Saints. Bruce McGurty Demons Prem C - Round 10 03/07/11 Demons 4 - Jets 3 Easy wins for the strongest team in the division are proving to be hard work. Demons faced the Jets at the IceHouse last Thursday night and luckily came away with the two points. Demons trailed 3-1 for most of the game but shifted the momentum in the third to even things up. "Sharky" Faramaz, who was playing his 50th game as a Demon, took a perfect pass in the slot from "a-little-dab-will-do-ya" Prokopec to score the winner. Demons are now 7-0-2 and 3 points clear of the Braves. Next game will be against the 3rd place Sharks this Thursday at 8:00pm. See you there. Bruce McGurty Prem C - Round 9 25/06/11 Demons 5 - Blackhawks 3 Demons took a commanding lead of the game scoring 3 goals in the first and another at the 04:44 mark of the second. The Blackhawks managed to chip away at the 4 goal cushion by scoring 2 quick unanswered goals in the 2nd period. The Blackhawks did collect 44 minutes in penalties and struggled to apply pressure when playing with a man advantage. Out-shooting the opposition 27-11, the Demons should have buried this side but managed the win with what looked like a tight game on the board. Point-getters on the night were Ken "a little-dab-will-do-ya" Prokopec 2 goals & 1 assist, Chomp Nim 1 goal & 2 assisits, Nic Faramaz & Rod Johns both with 1 goal. Milum, Raphael, Polari and Skrzelinski all registered an assist. See ya next week... Bruce McGurty 6-0-2 07/06/11 After coming off an impressive 7-2 win last week against the Braves to take possession of 1st place, the Demons could only manage a 3 all draw against the Saints last Monday night. Gordie Stewart tied the game with about a minute and 30 seconds left. The team returns to action on June 23 when they meet the Blackhawks. Bruce McGurty Demons Prem C - Round 3 vs Braves 09/05/11 The Prem C Demon squad who were coming off two straight wins met their long-time arch-rivals -the Braves, last Thursday night and as usual it was a closely contested game. The Braves were also 2-0-0 coming into the game. The Braves opened up the scoring early in the first period but the D's answered back with a Stewart assisted "Sharky" Faramaz shutout buster to even things up midway through the first. Well into the second period and although it seemed like we were under constant pressure, the scoreboard did indicate that the shots on goal were fairly even. There were a few golden opportunities as the D's buzzed around the opposing net but just couldn't convert. The Braves registered the only goal in the second period and took the lead 2-1. Never giving up the Demons tied the game at 6:46 of the third period with a Lord assisted Lamb goal. Keeping up with the Braves' bump & grind style of play, determination payed off when our latest import - Ted the "Halifax Hurricane" scored unassisted with only a few minutes left in the game. While we served a couple of late penalties, the D's managed to keep the Braves at bay with some impressive PK. We also rejoiced prematurely when "Hurricane" almost buried another hitting the inside of the post and which according to the referee, didn't cross the red line. The Braves pulled their goalie for the extra attacker with about a minute left in the game and scored to the even it up. The game ended 3-3 and the sheep stations were divided accordingly....until next time. |
